Overview:
A small but deceptively tricky embroidery mark, designed for Kulm Hunt Club through longtime promo/apparel partner Scoby Bros.
The brief came by way of the client's own reference photo: their water tower, with "KULM" painted on the tank, needed to become a clean, wearable logo — "Hunt Club" below it, an est. date somewhere in the mix. The catch was the end use. This wasn't a print piece; it was headed straight to a digitizer for embroidery on hats, which meant every line had to survive the jump from vector to stitch.
Challenge:
Small scope, but a real lesson in the limits of client-driven constraints. The client liked "KULM" lettered directly on the tower. I designed the mark originally to be as embroidery-friendly as I could make it, as small-scale lettering is one of the hardest things to stitch cleanly, and I never found the argument that would move them off it. Sometimes "designed for embroidery" and "ideal for embroidery" aren't the same thing — and that gap doesn't always close in your favor.
